Information

Born at Dueren/ Germany in 1970.
From 1994 - 1997 he studied photography at the institute of arts Saint-Luc in Liège / Belgium where he finished with grad./diploma. Since then he works for magazines and Newspaper editions and is represented Europe-wide by several photo agencies (Visum, Contrasto, Focuspictures). Since 2002, his work also gets international interest at touring exhibitions and photo meetings, especially his photo series about the problem of homeland destruction by open cast mining and his photo series about political refugees. The WDR , German television broadcast produced a documentary about this work. In cooperation with the Robert Bosch Stiftung (Robert Bosch donation), several interesting exhibition projects were organised in hungary and the Czech Republic. Markus Lokai is a founder member of the international photo collective LUNA which now exists since more than five years. Markus Lokai lives and works at Cologne.
